Oddly enough, the same thing happened to me about 3 weeks ago. But things went pretty smoothly, because I had a Google AdWord account associated with the site (I used one of those $100 credits that google sends out to setup adwords for my relatives names so that interesting ads came up when they googled themselves).

There was an actual AdWords person who seemed to be at least a bit interested in helping to get the website relisted, or at least interested in showing the ads again.

I also heard Danah Boyd speak at the conference and she is how I found out about the comment form. There is a Nov 28th deadline.

Danah Boyd, who just spoke at the NYSAIS NEIT conference, recently did an interview with NPR’s On the Media called “Parents Helping Kids Lie Online” (http://www.onthemedia.org/2011/nov/04/parents-helping-kids-lie-online/) which discusses the culture that is developing around getting kids access to these sites.

Google restored Kassblog to their site index today. Hooray, I guess! I suppose they set my expectations low by warning that the reinstatement process could take weeks. The site was excluded from Search for five days.

Thanks for sharing, Richard. SF Day seems to be running along a similar path — just rolled out the full Google Apps for Education suite to all teachers and 4th-8th grade students, a new assignment tracking calendar, another laptop cart… it’s been busy!

Richard, Great post. Ever so helpful. I was working this week with someone preparing a powerpoint for a talk and it needed to be 5 minutes. I find the same works with keynote. Forget the text all together. Maybe a graph, but otherwise, use compelling photos to enhance the words that you say. . .

Now onto the SFLC website to apply your advice.

It is worth every dime and will give you research-based and practical suggestions on using his research to really reach kids.
