hi there,

I was reading "Moodle Single Sign-on Hack" and i found it to be very interesting. I am a php programmer and am not an expert in moodle.

I want to change the login so that i can authenticate it via our 3 ldap servers.

My plan is to use adldap to auth and set the moodle cookies and let the normal moodle process take place. in the users table, i will only store the users username (to restrict users).

i have got the authentication working using adldap but i cant seems to integrate it with moodle. I have posted on moodle for help but no one knows (i think)

After recently applying for a position at Catlin Gabel I must say. Your online application process was flawless. I was clear quick, easily navigable, and responsive. Hi,

I am using Moodle version 1.8. I want to implement Moodle Single sign on. When user clicks the Moodle link from sharepoint, it should authenticate using NTLM/LDAP authentication, without asking for the Moodle username and password.

Can you please give me the steps to implement this? Is it very tough to do it?
I use windows XP operating system and Moodle1.8.

Hello Richard,

I wondered if you could help me to understand how the auction module can be installed on a drupal site. I have a website address which i am trying to develop for online auctions. I noticed that you had made it work for yourself. I am a bit confused as to how to make it work, not being a programmer myself.

I would love to. Would you like to share information via email? Basically, Drupal has a list of modules on drupal.org. Install e-commerce, follow the configuration instructions, and then you will see options for auction. It appears to work okay, though ZenCart's auction plug-in provided more status updates. Good luck.

Hi everyone!

I'm new to moodle, but I have been developing it to be used as a tool for our helpdesk ppl. We have 10 workers and we need things like calendar, forum, wiki and the last but not least ticket system + laptop loan calendar. So we need to use external sites for the last two, and we were looking forwards to find a plugin or script which could give our ticket system and the laptop loan calendar a single sign on with Moodle. Our Moodle is signing into AD, and we would like it to provide sing on for the other 2 pages too. If u guys could help me out here, I would really appreciate it :)

Dear Sampo,

Good job with your Moodle site so far! I like the theme you chose. I don't have a simple answer to your question, but I can offer these alternatives.

First, it is a lot easier to achieve single logon than single signon. From a network administration perspective, I feel that single logon is more important.

Second, we have succeeded in writing a laptop loan checkout system that ties into Moodle, but we wrote the loaner system from scratch -- it was then easy to invoke a function that checked for a valid Moodle login by decrypting the stored Moodle cookie and checking the Moodle sessions table.

Finally, you may consider writing your own authentication plugin for any third-party wiki or HelpDesk system you choose. Use the cookie/sessions approach outlined above, and research how to write an authentication plugin for the third-party system you choose. I hope this helps.

I've read a few of your posts and appreciate your sharing your experiences with Moodle. Our school is looking at using a curriculum mapping software, and I was wondering if you guys are using something at Catlin Gabel and if you know of anything that integrates with Moodle. Better yet, is open source!

Dear Lael,

We used to use Rubicon Atlas software, and then I wrote a Perl script to perform that function. I don't know offhand of a curriculum mapping tool that integrates with Moodle. That's a fine idea, especially if you have imported all of your courses into Moodle.
